Miss Bunny Amigurumi Knitting Part 1 of 3

Miss Bunny Amigurumi Knitting Part 1

Today I present you this beautiful knitted bunny.
I added photos at the beginning, since with the camera we don't see it exactly as she is.
My bunny measures is 30 cm high.
To make it in other sizes just change the size of the yarn and needles.
But I advise you to do it in this size.
To achieve it you will need: - yarn n ° 3,5 (which I have doubled = n ° 6)
- knitting needles 5 mm (European size)
(very important for the amigurumis, you have to use needles that are smaller than the yarn)
In this way, the stitches are well tight, and your work stays well rigid, doesn't deform.

I used 3 colors of yarn, grey (100 g), lila (50 g) and beige (50 g).
- scissors, wool needle, silicone foam - wooden buttons and resin buttons
- black eyes for amigurumi (You can use black pearls instead)
- or you can embroider the eyes (it's up to you)
- yarn, color marron (just a little bit, for the nose) - sewing thread and needle
(for the nose you can use a pink yarn, for a white bunny for example)
In this part we're going to make the head, the ears and the arms. (this tutorial is composed of 3 parts)

You begin the head by casting on 10 stitches.
Then you have to make 2 rows of stockinette stitch.
So, the 1st row you knit all the stitches, (k all)
and the 2nd row you purl all the stitches (p all).
It's very easy to do.
(so the 2nd row you purl all the stitches)
(you take out the selvedge stitch, and then you purl all stitches)
For the row n° 3 we will make some increases,
so you take out the 1st stitch, without knitting it,
and then in all the next 9 stitches, you have to make 1 increase in each one of them.
To make an increase, you have to cast on the stitch from the previous row,
you turn it, and you place it on the left needle.
Then, you have to knit it (k).
Now, you knit the stitch (k),
Then you continue in the same way, you cast on the stitch from the previous row,
you place it on the left needle,
and you knit it (k).
You knit 1 stitch. (k1) (which is always the same)
And you have to repeat this until the end of the row.
At the end of the row you'll have 19 stitches.
For the rows n° 4, 5 and 6 you have to knit in stockinette stitch.
So, for the row n° 4 you have to purl all stitches. (and you continue with row n° 5 and 6)
The rows that are purled you purl them, and those who are knitted you knit them.
For the row n° 7 you have to take out the 1st stitch (the selvedge stitch),
you make 1 increase in the next stitch,
then you knit 1 stitch (k1). You repeat this until the end of the row.
You cast on the stitch from the previous row, you place it on the left needle and you knit it (k).
You knit the next stitch (k1).
At the end of the row you'll have 37 stitches.
For the row n° 8 you have to purl all stitches (p all).
For the rows n° 9 to n° 12 you have to make the stockinette stitch,
except that you have to make 1 increase in each row.
So, you take out the 1st stitch, and in the 2nd one you make 1 increase.
(you make the increase in the same way, like we did until now)
and then you continue with the stockinette stitch.
For the row n° 10 you have to take out the selvedge stitch, you make 1 increase,
and then you continue with the stockinette stitch.
(so you continue in the same way, for the rows n° 11 and 12, you make the stockinette stitch, with 1 increase in each row)
Now you have to make 12 rows with the stockinette stitch. (so from the row n° 13 to the row n° 24)
For the row n° 25 you have to make 1 simple decrease, so the 1st stitch counts,
you take out the 1st stitch, you knit the next one,
and the 1st stitch, you pass it in front of the 2nd one, (that's a SIMPLE DECREASE)
Then you knit 2 stitches (k2),
and you repeat this sequence. (1 simple decrease, knit 2 stitches (k2) )
I show you again. You cast on a stitch without knitting it, you knit the next one,
you pass the stitch the we haven't knitted in front of the one that we have knitted,
and to finish the sequence, you knit 2 stitches (k2).
You have to make this sequence 5 times.
We made it 2 times, so you have to make it another 3 times.
After the 5 sequences, you knit 1 stitch (k1),
and then you repeat this sequence 5 times:
knit 2 stitches (k2), and you knit 2 stitches together ( a decrease)
So ( knit 2 stitches (k2), and knit 2 stitches together)

So, we made this sequence 2 times, you have to make it another 3 times.
At the end of the row n° 25 you'll have 31 stitches.
Now you have to make 3 rows of stockinette stitch. (the rows n° 26, 27 and 28)
For the row n° 29 you have to make 1 simple decrease,
knit 1 stitch (k1),
and you repeat this 5 times. (1 simple decrease and knit 1 stitch)
(I do it again, 1 simple decrease,
and you knit 1 stitch )
So, we made this sequence 2 times, you have to make it another 3 times.
Then you have to knit 1 stitch (k1),
and you have to make 5 times the next sequence,
knit 1 stitch (k1) and 1 decrease (knit 2 stitches together),
(so this sequence 5 times).
For the row n° 30 you have to purl all stitches (p all),
For the row n° 31 you have to make 5 times a simple decrease,
then you knit 1 stitch (k1),
and you make 5 decreases. (knit 2 stitches together, 5 times)
At the end of the row you'll have 11 stitches.
For the row n° 32 you have to purl all stitches (p all),
Now you have to cut the yarn. Leave a good length, we're going to use it for the sewing.
 You use a yarn needle,
and you pass it through all the stitches.
 Now, you pull,
you prick in front, and you make a knot.
This side must stay well closed. (it's the muzzle)
Then you have to sew the head.
Before you finish sewing the head, you have to fill it with the silicon foam.
You have to attach his eyes also, before you finish the seam.
Now you can finish the seam.
You have to sew it well, behind, clean, because we're going to see that. (this place, it's not hidden)
At the end you make a knot, you hide and you cut the yarn.
There you have the head of the bunny.
Now we're going to make the ears.
I already made a small ear with a small head. (I didn't doubled the yarn, so yarn n° 3,5)
And the big head was made with the 5 mm needles, and with the doubled yarn n° 3,5 (you obtain the n° 6)
For the ear you have to cast on 18 stitches and make 14 rows of stockinette stitch.

(the 1st row you knit all, then you purll all etc. until you get 14 rows)
For the row n° 15 you have to knit 4 stitches (k4),
then 1 simple decrease,
knit 6 stitches (k6),
1 decrease,
and you finish by knitting 4 stitches (k4).
For the row n° 16 you have to purl all stitches (p all),
(I forgot to tell you, at the end of the row n° 15 you'll have 16 stitches)
For the row n° 17 you have to make 1 decrease,
knit 2 stitches (k2),
1 simple decrease,
knit 4 stitches,
1 decrease,
knit 2 stitches (k2),
and 1 simple decrease.
At the end of the row you'll have 12 stitches.
For the row n° 18 you have to purl all stitches (p all),
For the row n° 19 you have to make 1 decrease,
knit 1 stitch (k1),
1 simple decrease,
knit 2 stitches (k2),
1 decrease,
knit 1 stitches (k2),
and 1 simple decrease.
For the row n° 20 you have to purl all stitches (p all),
For the row n° 21 you have to make 1 decrease,
1 simple decrease,
1 decrease,
and 1 simple decrease.
At the end of the row you'll have 4 stitches.
Now you cut the yarn. You leave a good length, because we're going to use it for the seam.
With a yarn needle,
you pass it through all the stitches,
and you pull.
Now you have to sew the ear. Look, like this one.
So, you make a knot,
and you sew the ear, (small knot by small knot)
(we have the small knots that form, when we don't knit the 1st stitch and we finish the row by purling (p) the last stitch)
(in this way the seam is more discreet)
(you can do the seam as you wish)
Look at this ear, the seam is discreet, because the stitches are close together.
Now you have to sew the ears on the head.
(it's better to position the ears with the seam behind)
You have to fold them, in this way.
You position them on the head,
(it's better to position the both of them, so you can find the ideal place)
When you finish, you have to make a small knot, discreet.
And you cut and hide the yarn.
You have to sew the 2nd ear, exactly like the 1st one.

You begin the arm by casting on 8 stitches.
You have to knit 2 rows of stockinette stitch.
The 1st row you knit all (k all) and the 2nd one you purl all (p all).
For the row n° 3 you have to take out the 1st stitch,
1 increase,
knit 6 stitches (k6),
and you make 1 increase, knit 1 stitch (k1).
At the end of the row you'll have 10 stitches.
For the row n° 4 you have to purl all stitches (p all).
For the row n° 5 you have to take out the 1st stitch,
1 increase,
knit 8 stitches (k8),
and you make 1 increase, knit 1 stitch (k1).
For the row n° 6 you have to purl all stitches (p all).
For the row n° 7 you have to make 1 increase, (by knitting 2 times the 1st stitch)
knit 10 stitches (k10),
and 1 increase. (by knitting 2 times the same stitch)
Now you have to make 21 rows of stockinette stitch
For the row n° 29 you have to make only decreases.
(you knit 2 stitches together= decrease)
At the end of the row you'll have 7 stitches.
Now you have to cut the yarn. You leave a good length , because we're going to use it for the seam.
With a yarn needle,
you pass it through all the stitches,
you pull and you make a knot.
And you start sewing the arms.
Before you finish, you have to fill in the arms with the silicon foam.

Look at the result.
You'll see, once it's finish, the arm will get a nice shape.
And you have to make a knot.
There you have your arms finished. So, we have the arms, the ears and the head.
(I invite you to watch the 2nd part)
